'field combing'

Fffffface ffffreeeezzzzzing temperatures out there today! Brrrrrrrrrrrr. It didn't deter Harvey from bouncing along the muddy stream in sub zero temperatures. No chance of a nice photo I'm afraid; he's a Springer, that's what they do...boing, boing, boinggggg! His white bits are black bits now, and his black spots are mud splotches.

In the absence of a beach at the end of our garden 'beach combing' gives way to 'field combing'. It's not quite the same but over the last 5 or 6 years I've collected a little jar full of interesting china fragments, clay pipe pieces and even some blue/white semi opaque glass. All destined for a small mosaic project when I have enough pieces.

My best finds include this curious little porcelain lid...from a child's tea set perhaps?
